Comments
Comments: We ascended and descended via the slide. Slide was EXTREMELY unstable and active, probably due to undermining from hurricane irene. We had few problems ascending. The descent was another story. We had a few rock-rolling problems and caught some VERY large boulders which pinned and caught our feet at various times. Most rocks showed signs of scrapes and movement; even the large ones were easily moved.

We originally thought about going to Shoal Pond or even Thoreau Falls but decided to cut out those options after Forestgnome took a final hit to his right ankle - it should be OK. We would not recommend the slide until it gets a chance to stabilize. WE had some trouble finding the highpoint but enjoyed the AWESOME views from the southern summit ledges. Another great hike with forestgnome!!!!
