There was a good bit of mud below 3000 feet. We put microspikes on at 3000 feet and left them on until we returned to the 3000 foot level. The trail was slick due the packed snow and the warm and cold temperatures over the last couple of days. It was rather windy between Starr King and Waumbek. It was still nice to get out.
We also saw two hunters who were hunting rather close to the trail. It is nice to know there are still a few idiots out there who like kill things. They made me wonder whether the blaze orange we were wearing would be enough. |
