Used MICROspikes up above, worked fine on crunchy crust. Knowing their limits is important. Had ice axe. Left snowshoes behind, could have used them just below summit, where some drifts were thigh deep, and also in trees on the way back down to shelter. The wind has built up a lot of snow in the stunted woods. But great hike, with a good wind. Partly sunny with a lot of wind clouds, Carters capped with cloud, no Presies in sight. |
