Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Christine Lake road is paved and plowed to the gate to the summer club. The road to the parking lot is not and there is large fir leaning across the road. It is quite unstable but there were too many care around to deal with it. I suspect a power pull and a rope will pull it down and then it will need to be cut up. BTW for those who have nto visited Chrsitine Lake, its totally undeveloped except for small day use carry in beach on one end and the summer club on the other end. Nice place for paddle or a swim that doesnt get a lot of traffic. The connector road along the North side of the lake is marked for private use only but about 100 feet in there is sign welcoming hikers to access the Coos Trail. The trail until just short of the Victoe Head spur goes through recent logging but is very well marked as long as snowmobile trail signage is ignored.

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I brought my saw and cut a hole through a big blowdown about 20 feet south of the Victor Head spur. The blowdown and the reroute around it meant that I suspect a lot of folks heading to Victor Head missed the turn. There is much large broken fir well above the trail that will come down one of these days and will block the trail but that one will require a chainsaw once it comes down.

Comments
Comments: Great spot to watch the Eclipse as the North Percy sticks up about 2000 feet from the Nash Stream Valley to the west. The first real mountain is Monadnock near Colebrook and East mountain farther to the west> Jay Peak is visible. I elected to go the longer route from the lake as I expect the end of Nash Stream road would be a zoo. I was up early to the summit and there were a few folks up there but as the day progressed there was steady stream of folks coming up from Nash Stream road. The amount of equipment carried and worn seemed to be inversely proportional to the time folks made it up. The snow int he area is rapidly melting giving the temps and sun, it was quite noticable the difference between the amount of snow pack down low in the sunny areas. Once in the shade heading from the south and east of South Percy snow depths were about 3 feet. That snow may take a bit longer to melt. Many folks barebooted heading down and really trashed to track. I cant envision what condition the trail is from Nash Stream Road.

A hard to beat lifetime experience for me and the 100 plus folks on the summit.
