Comments
Comments: Ventured into the path of totality for the Eclipse. Took to the Nash Stream Road and walked the almost 3 miles to the Northern point of the Percy loop trail to try and avoid some of the trail traffic. This was a good choice. We followed the boot prints of one other hiker and did not see another soul until we got to the junction and register for North Percy peak. We bare booted to just about the tent site when the warming of the day caused a few postholes and the shoes went on. Looked like someone had stayed out at the campsite the night before. Steep climb up to the exposed area where we ran into the party. Lots of people on the summit to enjoy the beautiful bluebird day and the total eclipse! Within 5 minutes of totality we took the the trail to beat the crowds out. Long slippery mess on the way out that I am sure only got worse as the crowds made their way down. 8 hours in the care to get home but totally worth it!
