Ammo is in great shape. I wore spikes to Gem Pool and then Snowshoes to the summit of Monroe and Washington. I switched to crampons to head to Jefferson. Tried to go North but my cairn to cairn visibility was now even less. One thing I sure learned today was that Crawford Path\Gulfside cairns are one size, the others are alot smaller. Went down and crossed on Westside. I think that there were a couple of scary crossings but all I saw was snow and fog downhill. I was thinking about going down Jewell once I reached it but things seemed to be getting brighter. Just long enough to lure me up Jefferson. While I was changing, visibilty dropped and I was back to following my own footprints on the return. I stayed in crampons until the Jewell gets close to Burt Ravine and then the snow go really deep. Just for a 100 yards or so but it would have been a slog without my MSR's. Wore those to the car. Saw 1 person on Monroe heading North. Never saw him again. |
