Conditions: Road walk was hard packed and easy. The trail was was firm with some loose snow on top. Some minor drifting in places up high. One duck-under after the second bridge. Summit cone was icy crusted snow and hard pack. I wore my Hillsounds from car to car and they worked great.
Beautiful blue sky with windy conditions on the summit. Fantastic views in all directions. I saw one person on the summit as I was headed up. He must have gone back down the carriage rd.(judging from an earlier post it must have been Jeremy). Eight others headed up on my way back down. 15 degrees this morning when I started and 26 degrees at 1:00 when I finished. Rt. 118 is in bad shape from Lincoln up to Ravine Rd. with frost heaves. |
