Comments
Comments: Great day for a N.Presi traverse. A few patches of avoidable solid ice from about 3000' to treeline on Lions Head, and some spring snow patches various places on the ridges, but mostly bare rock. Everyone brought spikes but they only got used once on the snow field traverse below Jefferson (this is 50m traverse across a steep 40 degree sloped snowfield ringed with rocks at the bottom. If the snow is soft you can go for it and stay in the boot tracks, or get around it with a little off-trail scrambling)

Started at 7AM under blue sky, but Washington was socked in (despite the MWO specifically claiming "unabated sunshine" all day) then clouds lifted by the time we got to Clay. Temps in the 50s, winds 0-20, no bugs, plenty of sun, and fantastic views. Couldn't ask for more!

The descent from Madison via Howker Ridge to Pine Link went on forever and ever. A very steep, narrow, and straight-down 3.2 miles, with a little bit of everything on this trail.

17 miles, 7500' climbing, 14 hours, 10 billion jumbled rocks, 12 sore feet! But now it feels great to have done it.
