Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Table Mountain, Big Attitash Mountain, NH
Trails
Trails: Attitash Trail, Moat Mountain Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, June 24, 2012
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The big lot on West Side Road fills up with the vehicles of Diana's Baths bathers and requires a fee. The Bear Notch Rd. lot for the Attitash Trailhead is smallish, but I've had it to myself both summer Saturdays I've parked there.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Standing/Running Water on Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Several crossings of Lucy and Attitash Brooks, some said to be difficult in high water, which we didn't have.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Attitash Trail is a little rough, esp. between the summits of Table and Big Attitash, with a number of blowdowns. One short boggy section is a little hard to follow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: We had a poodle-mix with us who did pretty well, although some of the blowdowns were a challenge. The breezes helped.
Bugs
Bugs: Blackflies were a bit heavy in a few places, but not bad overall.

Comments
Comments: This was the route TV/radio guy Ted O'Brien intended to take when he got lost for 3 days in 2001, but in the other direction. The Attitash Trail is rough but attractive, and probably a lot easier to follow than in '01.
