Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossing the Wonalancet River on Tom Wiggin Trail, I couldn't find a rock-hoppable path and so waded (< shin deep). Others may have been able to do it without the dip.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: All the hard work of the WODC on these trails (especially Walden) were noted and appreciated! There were two new blowdowns on Old Mast - leaves are still green on them.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a couple who seemed to be doing well in and around Passaconaway. Some of the steep sections on Blueberry Ledge and Walden could be difficult for some dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: A few black flies flying and annoying but not biting. Mosquitoes around the water crossings and couple muddy spots. Overall, very few issues.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: On Walden Trail, I saw a long-sleeved red shirt hanging in a bush. It looked like it hadn't been there more than a couple hours - very clean. I thought someone just decided not to carry it, considering the temps, and so I left it with the assumption they would be coming back through.

Comments
Comments: Lovely day - warm temps but a decent breeze through most of the hike. I think that helped with the bugs, too. My first time on Tom Wiggin Trail, which *is* steep, as the signs profess, but I didn't find it to be bad walking overall. That valley happened to be the one place that the wind couldn't get to, so that made it a little tough. Saw quite a few people today once I got onto Blueberry Ledges and all the way around to the summit of Passaconaway. Thanks to Holly for nice conversation which made the Rollins Trail just fly by. Never saw a soul from the summit to the car on Walden/Old Mast. Walden Trail wavered from being a real treat in places to being a very steep (but not scary) descent. I really enjoyed seeing some of these trails today for the first time!
