Parking/Access Road Notes: No issues - room for 3-4 cars on Old Cherry Mountain Rd, plenty more on 115.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All very low, no issues
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Overall trails in good shape - some brushy ferns and grass for a short section on Martha's Mile and multiple sections on Cherry Mountain Trail, but the trail was easy to follow. No sign marking the start of Cherry Mountain Trail at the top of Mt. Martha - if coming from the north, all the spur trails to views head straight, hang a U-turn to the left to head down the mountain.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Hannah had a good day - lots of critters to chase and easy footing. Not many opportunities for water so make sure to bring plenty extra for your pooch.
Bugs
Bugs: Bad in a few spots if we stopped, but not terrible

Comments
Comments: Great hike despite the hot humid weather - we spotted a car at the trailhead on Old Cherry Mountain Rd, then started up from route 115. First mile or so is fairly easy, but after the last stream crossing the trail becomes fairly steep and unrelenting up to Owlshead. Great views (though a bit hazy) from the summit towards Whitefield, the Presi's and Mt. Martha.

Martha's Mile in great shape with easy footing and a slight breeze to cool us off a bit. More fantastic views on Mt. Martha from the Presi's to Crawford Notch all the way to Lafayette and Cannon Mt. Cherry Mountain Trail is an easy cruise down an old road/snowmobile trail, with some mud the last hundred yards or so - not really an issue yesterday, but after some recent rains I can imagine it might be pretty mucky. This hike is a great alternative to a 4k, especially with the sweeping views on the summits - it had been on my list for a while and I'll definitely hike it again - thanks to Tim, Ali and Hannah for another good one!
