Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked in lot off Trescott Road - lot is not signed, trailhead from lot is not signed (forest protection sign visible though), and AT crossing is very easy to miss (drove by it three times).

Water Crossing Notes: Nothing today 
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One chainsaw stepover just west of the highpoint. Otherwise, maybe half a dozen handsawable blowdowns.

Bugs: A few mosquitoes and an occasional deer fly, but otherwise not bad.

Comments
Comments: Trail was mostly dry and in good shape. Velvet Rocks Shelter Loop east side is not heavily blazed and has herdpaths, so one should pay attention.


Generally a decent trail footingwise for jogging, though it gets a little rugged in the middle section. Nice woods, but basically no views (one narrow view from the shelter loop). Saw only one thru-hiker.
