 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at Lincoln Woods, lot plowed well. |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Drifts, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
We skipped most of the water crossings by doing the Black Pond Bushwhack, but things were frozen enough that I don't think any of the crossings would have presented any difficulty at this time. Those we did cross had good ice bridges. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Snowshoe tracks on the bushwhacks were hard to follow due to some powder and blowing snow that had filled them in. Be careful about what tracks you're following as some lead in wrong directions and into obstacles that could otherwise be avoided. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
It was a cold day, having a jacket for her helped. Ice balling issues were minimal. |

 | Comments: |
IMHO the bushwhacks may have saved some time and mileage, but the effort and added energy consumption of winding through the woods and around objects, up and down and being face whipped did not give me enough of a reason to say, "Oh yeah, this is the way to go." If i were to do it again, I would probably just stick to the trails and deal with the water crossings. The time and energy spent on the bushwhacks was probably more than I would have spent hiking the extra 2 miles or so on open, packed trails. |
