There were several sections on the Wonalancet Range trail where the trail blazes were on downed trees so when the leaves or snow falls, it will make discerning the trail a bit challenging in places. The steep section of the Walden trail west of the four way junction was a bit rougher than expected - would not want to tackle that up or down in wet conditions. |

Saw only one dog all day. The owner said she was quite nervous with the dog on the ledges of Wonalancet. No water available other than at the brook along the lower section of the Old Mast Road trail. |

This is a nice, relatively easy hike with great views to Mt. Chocorua, the Belknap range and the lakes region. The best view from Mt Hibbard is near the summit where the trail turns left - instead, continue straight a little way to a large boulder and an outlook on the right. One outlook on the Walden trail has a small "View" sign on a tree, but there are a couple of other unmarked outlooks off to the right side of the trail. |
