 | Comments: |
Road to ravine lodge was hard packed snow. One blowdown with a 3 fut cut out section on the road. Gorge Brook also hard packed, barebooted to ~3700 Ft where I switched to 6 point crampons. Trail was a mixture of hard pack and drifting snow. Summit ridge is solid blue ice with a few sections of heavy drifts and a few sections of rime ice.
Conditions were deteriorating rapidly on the summit and I used my GPSr to mark a waypoint every 100 steps. Visibility dropped to 100 Ft and I didn't need the waypoints forr descent but the security blanket was comforting. 40-50 MPH winds with snow.
