| Water Crossing Notes: |
All bridged. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The blue blazes on the Pine Hill Trail - which is a "hikers-only" alternate section of the North-South Trail between Kenyon Hill Trail and Pine Hill Road, are mostly faded to the point of invisibility. Fortunately, some of the No.-So. Trail emblems are posted near key junctions, so I didn't make any wrong turns. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
No dogs, no people. Met zero fellow walkers in nearly five hours. Peaceful! |
|
| Bugs: |
Hardly any - a few random deer flies. (But I was wearing my bugproof long pants and shirt.) |

| Comments: |
I combined the "Carolina South" and "Carolina North" hikes from [40] Weekend Walks in Rhode Island, adding the section of the North-South Trail that runs from Meadow Brook Pond to "Carolina South," the Cellar Hole Trail and the Field Trail. That produced two big loops, one small loop and not much duplication, in the course of 12.4 miles (which included some backtracking to visit the cane camp on the Pawcatuck, which I missed at first). These pine-shaded old woods roads, fringed with mountain laurel, made for a cool respite on a very warm day. |
