Spikes all the way up pico. Solid well broken trail. I put on snowshoes at pico camp and broke a trail the rest of the way to the long trail. LT was partially broken, snowshoes the whole way. I'd definitely put on crampons at cooper lodge for the spur. It's icy as hell. I foolishly left mine in the car. I made it up and down in snowshoes, but wouldnt dare do that again. Having an axe for safety wouldn't even be excessive for that small stretch. Maybe there's another way around?
Great hike on an absolutely beautiful day. The wind was only bad on killington peak. |
