| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at end of Tower Road. Could make it to the grassy field down the access road next to the stream because a large tree hd recently blown down blocking he roadway. Room for maybe 4-5 cars. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Mud - Significant, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Water crossing at washout took some thinking, even more water in afternoon. Both of the large water crossings can be done but not without putting some portion of your boot in the water maybe on a submerged rock. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Some serious blowdowns along first section from end of Tower Road to washout. Few more from tarpaper shack to "T" intersection. More along steep climb up to the doorknob intersection. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw no dogs today. |
|
| Bugs: |
None bothered us today |

Could not drive down because of a blow down so walked on dirt access road along stream past grassy area on right through a small field then to the washout,,crossed and followed trail along west side of washout for a 1000 feet. Then back on the access road to the tarpaper shack on the left ~ 1 hour mostly flat. Stayed on access road climbing steeply for anther 1 hour with a stream on your right for more than 1/2 of the time.
Came to the "T" intersection and went right, gradual climb, 10 minutes came to a fork. Took right fork another ATV trail climbed steeply again for 1/2 hour or so.
Went by a small cairn on the right that we think went to the old tower site.
Made it to the "doorknob" junction which is also the way to the old tower site.
Took the trail on the left and followed to the junction where there was an old sign which said summit .2 of a mile.
Made it to summit in 2-1/2 hours.
Snow on upper section, very wet and lot of mud everywhere.
Finally got to see the pitcher and the doorknobs.
Thanks everyone for the beta. |
