| Comments: |
The Dorset Hollow Trail up to the junction with the trail from Danby (in the col between Jackson and Dorset) was muddy at the beginning, steep in the middle, and then covered with trace amounts of snow just before the junction. Once we turned right to head east along the trail towards the summit we encountered "wall-to-wall" snow for most of the way. The monorail (at least when we could find it) was relatively stable, but as soon as you stepped off into the wet soft snow you postholed (not unexpected for this time of year). The snow wasn't deep. The section between North Peak and Southwest Peak was snow-covered but there was no monorail and the snow was very soft, so when you postholed you dropped into a muddy bog. |
