Comments
Comments: Counter-clockwise loop over Stratton using the Long Trail & the IP Road from Stratton-Arlington Road, RGoH, party of 6. From S-A Road for ~2 miles northbound LT, trail well packed. From there to summit lots of wind drift, snowshoes recommended--heavy winds consistent thru day, so don't expect our trail to last. Snow around summit extremely deep with not much room between trail and canopy. Northbound LT to 2nd xing of IP Road even less well broken, difficult to parse in places. Beyond 2nd IP xing, LT north toward Stratton Pond appeared poorly broken out, not recently, so opted for return by IP Road. Use caution on IP Road--heavy use by very fast snowmobiles. Recommend single file, facing traffic on left (except where sharp corners demand best visibility), last person wear a headlamp backward for better visibility even in day.
