Comments
Comments: This adventure was like none other so far. We went to the Abandoned Air Force Radar Station just north of Lyndonville, Vt. The Base operated from 1956-1963. A good deal of the buildings are still present in the Cantonment Area and up topside on the summit. The radar towers on the summit were very impressive and the views from the FPS-27 and FPS-26 towers were phenomenal. It was a great day of exploring and getting an idea of how the Cold War changed the world. East Mountain is also on the New England 50 Finest hiking list.
Radar Road up to the summit is in great shape considering it is over 50 years old. It is no longer accessible by car as the road is blocked.
