Comments
Comments: Trail was dry and fast for the first 2.5 miles, but once you are onto the steeper sections the ice patches increase. You can make it up without traction but it is MUCH slower to try and find dry rocks to step on... Personally going back down is the hairier part without traction. Be smart and bring traction for another week or two. I went up with strap on light cramp-ons and came down with my micro-spikes... Cramp-ons were overkill.

As it warms and the ice gets slushy on the steeper sections, the microspikes don't provide sure footing and in those areas my trekking poles were welcome stability.
