Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few blow downs here and there but not major. One at neck height between Lincoln Gap and Battell Shelter. There is a missing sign heading north as you come out onto the top of a chairlift. It looks like the trail goes across and into the woods on the opposite side but you need to take a left and head down the ski trail for about 100 yards where you see a sign to enter the woods again on the left. Heading south there is a sign pointing up the ski trail but not the other way.

Comments
Comments: Stayed in Battell shelter for a night, it was messy and there are no brooms to be able to clean up the scraps of paper left by others and chewed by critters. Shelter floor is not in good shape with holes and saggy boards. For a shelter where you pay to stay in the summer it is poorly maintained.

Plenty of ice on the Long Trail and while it is melting fast it will be there for a while as it's quite thick in areas. Some places have nowhere to easily walk around the ice if you don't have traction. Most people I saw without traction were wishing they did, one guy offered to buy mine from me.

The summit of Abraham was wonderful! It was sunny and warm and felt great to relax on a few of the summits with little wind.

I climbed to the summit of Abe without traction but put my microspikes on heading north from there and wore them until I returned to the car in Lincoln Gap... Though I could have gone without on the last .8 miles where it was dry.
