Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Dirt road to parking area. Lots of parking but crowded by mid day. Very popular trail head.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Small brooks were step overs, the larger rivers very nicely bridged.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Excellent trail maintenance. It needs it, because this is a busy trail (see below).
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lots of dogs on the trail. Leashed or not they were not an issue. Sign states there is a porcupine problem, beware.
Bugs
Bugs: Not one!
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A lot of paper was lost (left) on this trail. I picked most of it up and brought it to the bottom. If anyone is missing any ... it is in a bin @ base of Pico Ski area.

Comments
Comments: Started early. Walked into a large bull moose one hundred feet down the trail. He went into the woods and that made me happy! Big rack! This is a popular local trail, well worn and just as well maintained. First two miles is a nice walk in woods, then medium steeps kick in for about a mile. Not crazy hard but steady. After crossing AT/LT you have a .2 mile steep scramble up some loose rock. Could be tough going down when wet. Beware.

Trail was crowded on my way down. I passed at least ten groups and six dogs. One group that looked like some kind of "through" group on the LT/AT were standing near the spring on the AT, but they all had their packs on. Who get water wearing a full pack? Or where they observing the spring? Don't know! Summit has great views, but is not pretty. It has a couple of ugly phone towers, .... necessary but ..... You can also access this summit from a ski lift, some rubbish left around the area from that source. Two hours in 1.5 out and I was not pushing it. # 53 of 67.
