Comments
Comments: A west to east traverse of Ascutney. BT follows an old road most of the way, before becoming a steep foot path higher up. The upper section doesn't mess around, it's a stiff climb. The entire trail climbs 2200' in 2.1 miles. On the way up we did the short side trips to Quarry Falls and Hidden Falls, both flowing strongly.

The summit was socked in, so no views from the tower. We ate lunch there and then started our descent. The FT is a long, gradual descent with mostly good footing. Nothing like the Whites! ;) Heavy leaf cover called for some cautious stepping in places though. On the way down we visited the Steam Donkey, a relic of industry past.

There were a few (very few) tiny patches of snow around, nothing requiring traction. We didn't even carry it.
