| Comments: |
The summit was fantastic. Clear views of the Green Mountains and crytal clear Preaidentials with freshly white tops. Minimal wind and balmy temps for November. Relatively free of ice on the summit
The bottom half of the trail was easy walking. This easy walking transitioned to a lot of ice (in all stages of freezing, frozen, and thawing as the day progressed), with many sections being very difficult to navigate without a lot of caution. The ascent at 11:00 was much more slippery than the descent at 1:00. We used light traction and a good deal of creativity to navigate the more shadowed, icy portions of the trail. The base was warm and dry by the afternoon, with most of the trail easily navigable and pleasant. |
