Comments
Comments: I've always found the VT peaks a bit mundane but today was not. Packed trail to the first brook crossing but very chewed up by bare boots. After that I lost the trail in the dark with a headlamp but followed ski and snowboard old tracks and came out on a "catwalk" or traverse way and then followed to the left and up. Trail to the hut was extremely post holed, above no one had been for some time. Broke 3-6 inches of new snow with a crust on top. I was able to catch some skiers tracks coming off the chin that were more packed but had to use the terrain up and down so as not to slide. Good training for open ice snow terrain and with no rope. Wind was bad on top, coming down had to lower myself backwards so as not to slide. Good day but no place for mistakes or as my partner Murder says no falling.
