Got an early start, wanting to be off the mountain early as well. Went up Castle rock trails and came out at the top of the lift. Skiers had come over from Ellen the previous day and broken up that section of trail. It had a few drifts but overall was not to bad. Section from Castle Rock lift to Paradise lift was packed hard for the most part with just a couple of inches of new snow on it. Section from Paradise lift to Abe was tough lots of snow and no one had been through there for a bit. In those kinds of situations, I just try to slow down, find a good pace and stay on the trail. There is no sense hurrying when you are breaking by yourself and no sense freaking out. Back down in about 5 and half. For planning purposes things are getting a lot slower with the snow. |
