Comments
Comments: I walked a short distance to the trailhead and followed the trail up, taking a side trip to Russell Hill. The trail was snow-free and not too wet. From the col between the two summit bumps of Shrewsbury, the Black Swamp tr. leaves. I took this down to the shelter and began an open woods bushwhack over to Smith Peak. In the col I joined an old, blueblazed trail that worked its way over towards Smith peak. Once it slabbed the south side, I bushwhacked to the recognized highpoint. To return I went back to the trail and used bushwhacks to connect trails and roads to the CCC stone house.
