Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Hadn't given a TR on Elmore in a while so here goes. Elmore State Park open until Columbus weekend; I believe $5 entry charge as well as seasonal options. Once park closes one can park at beach parking which is accessed off the Beach Road.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The 4 crossings on the Ridge tr. are rarely more than rock steps across; 2 are bridged.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some more nice work done on Ridge Tr. by Alex, Kevin and crew back in July or June. Thanks crew! A large piece of ledge broke off between 8-6 & 8-12 on Ridge Tr.; not to be dramatic but it changed the trail for a short section and fortunate no one near when it happened. Actually may turn out better with a few more well placed rock pieces.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dog friendly trails with many water ops; there are leash rules which most hikers don't mind being broken with well behaving dogs (and owners). Rarely an issue.
Bugs
Bugs: A few flies around but very enjoyable day.

Comments
Comments: A nice loop (about 5 1/2 miles from beach lot or 4 miles from upper lot). When upper lot fills on busy weekends staff asks hikers to park at beach parking to keep access easily available in case of rare emergency. 360 degree views from fire tower along with other view spots and Balance Rock. Refreshing swim in lake after if desired. Nice year round hike (minus the swim).
