I opted to walk up larocque road and pick up the haul road trail where it crosses the road. markings include plastic arrows. the trail climbed on a rough track for a bit then joined a very nice old woods road that runs up to a cabin below the skidoo glades. here based on the map the haul road becomes the skidoo mountain trail and continues up to the ridge (go straight and don't follow markers turning up into the skidoo glades) with some washouts, but mostly its in good condition. the trail was not marked up from the cabin. on the ridge it intersects a trail/atv track the runs in both directions. a short hike led to the highpoint of Braintree which has a nice view to the east and is recognized. I descended on the same route. |
