Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Ascutney, Mt. Ascutney - South Peak, VT
Trails
Trails: Weathersfield Trail, Slot Trail, Slab Trail, tower access road
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, May 27, 2018
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Somewhat limited room at the Weathersfield trailhead. The lot can hold about a dozen cars, but there's not a whole lot of room to park roadside. Either get here early or later in the day, after the first wave of hikers leaves, for a good shot at a parking spot.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No major crossings.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: All trails I took were very well built and maintained with no maintenance issues to speak of (flooding/drainage, blowdowns/debris etc.)
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: There are a few water sources along the way, but they have potential to go dry, so bring water for them just in case.
Bugs
Bugs: Not many due to the cooler temperature.
Lost and Found

Comments
Comments: The trails I took were a mix of dry ground, wet ground and wet rock. No mud that I remember. The trails on Ascutney are some of the best built and maintained I've ever seen, and they are a joy to hike. I'll definitely be back in the (hopefully) near future.
