I would have parked @ Oliver Ames High School to enter Clifford G. Grant Reservation if I hadn't been dropped off. Trail entrance is basically straight across at end of Lothrop Street in Easton. |

Bay Circuit Trail (Map 11) - Clifford Grant Res. - Proposed Bay Circuit Trail
This is a great hike through some little known areas. Once in the Clifford G. Grant Reservation there are now 2 options.
1) Stay right until the ball fields then follow Proposed BCT trail(BCT white blazes)through the Oliver Ames Parker Reservation and Town Forest to Bay Rd. OR
2) At about 1/3 of a mile from entrance stay left on newly cut loop trail. This trail needs traffic, but be warned coming from this direction it is not marked well and there are a couple Left or Right decisions (all basically looping back around, but some are quite long). I made a left at the first major intersection and another left at the 2nd...probably would go the opposite next time as this was the longer way to Bay Rd.
The walk down the Borderland Park access road is quick and the Rockland St. trail was a little wet but easily passible. Power Lines were free of the impassible water holes I encountered on my last foray (Map 12 Pt. B to A), however the golf ball size gravel they spread on the access road is tough to walk on.
Trip description printed from BCT website said to take a right at Tower #249? The turn was easy to see, but I could not find a Tower# anywhere? Fox Hollow Lot section was easy going, but the new section from Roundtable road to Old Pond is basically a bushwack following blazes through the woods. Ride picked me up at Old Pond. Nice 6mi./3hr. hike. |
