Beautiful day today. 27 degrees when I got there at 6:30 a.m. Wind Chill was a factor until it warmed up. The Chasm itself is closed and you need a permit to climb there. The Chasm Loop Trail needs to hiked with care and be sure to check for ice near the ledges. A fall here could result in some serious injury. Most of the trails were covered with 1" to 2" of snow. If they get some real snow up there the Chasm itself would be a real challenge. You would need crampons and an ax to get through there. Trail Map is printable via a PDF file. |
