Left the snowshoes in the car but could have used them for a portion of the hike and avoided post holing. There was a fair amount of post holing at times knee deep. But the sticky condition of the snow may have worked against using snowshoes. Generally the snow depths were marginal below 2,000 feet. Only post holed on upper part of Big Bend of Thunderbolt, coming down Gould above the Peck Brook Shelter spur. Cloudy to start - cloudy on top - but, as happens, clear and at times sunny once back down off the summit. Nice day for my monthly Greylock hike. Next time no snow and do a good 14+ mile loop.
