Comments
Comments: This was a short and sweet hike I fit in the afternoon. High Ledges are reached by Sanctuary Rd (woods rd), with minimal gain. Sweet views from the ledges, out to Greylock and the Berkshires, down to Shelburne Falls and the Deerfield River. I didn't stick around long due to a cold wind.

To spice things up, a paid a side trip to the Wolves' Den. Supposedly the last wolf in MA was killed at that location. The area of the den was more interesting geologically. Actually I don't know if I could ever find any dens...but maybe it does exist.

Most of trails had a crusty coating of snow, mixed with bare ground. Sanctuary Rd was a mix of bare ground, and packed down ice. You could have used microspikes, but careful walking was easier, because you'd be taking off the microspikes every few minutes.
