Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Noticed at ATV/4WD vehicles have been accessing some of the trails through Greylock Glen. We saw one mud covered jeep emerge as we were packing up. They are cutting around a gap in the boulders at the 1st trailhead on Gould Road. Not too much trail damage--yet.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Very low water at the moment due to drought. Waterfalls not particularly impressive at the moment.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Maybe 5-6 blowdowns on AT north of summit with well established detours. The lower section of the Gould Trail is as poorly marked and as confusing network of side trails as has been the case in years past, with the added difficulty of indecipherable new blaze patterns and decomposing wooden signs. Various trail maps are not particularly helpful and are often in disagreement with each otehr. Similar issues in Greylock Glen and in the vicinity of the Old Summit Trail. There appears to be little agreement among various map makers as to which trails are "official" and should be displayed and the reality on the ground. I'd pay a good few dollars for a map that showed everything without prejudice.
Dog-Related Notes

Comments
Comments: Greylock, RGoH meetup with party of 11. We did a long loop of Greylock, to the summit starting on the Greylock Glen trails near the ponds and up via Thunderbolt. From there northerly along AT, down to Money Brook, through the Hopper, back over the ridge and down via Gould. Wildflowers in full carpet bloom esp. spring beauty, hobble, Dutchman's britches, blue cohosh, and trillium peaking. Hepatica gone by, trout lily a little past peak. Tree leaves are starting to emerge, but little shade at the moment. Temps were in the 80s. No snow or ice left. Very little mud. Dusty trails.
