Halibut Point Artillery Control Tower (Rockport), Ledge Hill (Gloucester). Halibut Point is the northern tip of Cape Ann. The WWII artillery fire control tower that is part of the DCR State Park headquarters gives you great views. Short trails take you all over the old farm, quarry and sea rocks along the shore.
Ravenswood Park, in Gloucester's Magnolia section, offers 10 miles of mellow hiking trails, with a nice vista from the summit of Ledge Hill, looking SE across the Harbor to Eastern Point. TTOR posts a detailed map at http://www.thetrustees.org/assets/documents/places-to-visit/trailmaps/Ravenswood-Park-Trail-Map.pdf
With Dogtown, these two make an enjoyable Cape Ann trio. |
