Ascended via Kinsman ridge trail starting ~11:40. Saw a group coming down who turned back about 0.5 miles from summit. Past the turnaround point was much harder as we only had microspikes, the earlier part of the trail was packed down from their snowshoes. Last part of trail was steep ice under the fallen snow and later tough postholing about 6in to 3ft deep. Reached tower at about 3:30, descended via skiing area but wasn't able to use chairlifts. Last 2 miles past profile lake on pemi trail was extremely difficult without snowshoes. Postholing up to 3 feet deep extremely exhausting. Got back to car at Lafayette campground at ~6:40.
Note: only posted this TR due to the group of 2 telling me about trailsnh.com , thanks! |
