Did an overnight in Greylock sleeping at the Wilbur Cross Shelter. The Money Brook Trail was dry to wet/muddy with no snow until about Money Brook Falls. The AT has 2-12 inches of snow. In the morning the walking was easy because it was frozen. By the afternoon it was tough going as it melted. Plenty of tracks with a fair number of hikers. Some post-holes in sections. The CCC Dynamite Trail was the most difficult as it had not been hiked yet. I work micro-spikes for much of the day which worked OK. Ideally I would have used snowshoes on the CCC Dynamite portion. It is melting fast, I would guess it'll be mostly mud by next weekend. |
