Started at the Notch Visitor Center and took Metacomet-Monadnock Trail. The plan was to hike to Mt. Holyoke and return, but we turned around before reaching Taylor's notch (personal reasons, nothing wrong with trail conditions). The trail was covered in snow, but mostly well-packed. We put microspikes on just after reaching the summit of Bare Mt and left them on until we were back to the trailhead. Snowshoes were not needed. Some sections were very icy and I was glad to have the spikes. Great day, clear skies, just a little chilly. Trail had a lot of ups and downs, but the highest elevation was Bare Mt at 1010' |
