Great day for a jaunt up Wachusett. Trails pretty well packed, most folks in Katoolahs or snowshoes, didn't see too many bare boots. Did a varied loop up Carriage Road to Harrington, hopped over to Jack Frost via Lower Link. Steep section up Jack Frost before junction with High Meadow was broken and packed but a bit icy here and there, nothing major. Continued up Jack Frost over to Mountainhouse, took off on Upper Link back over to Harrington to hit Josti's Vista with great views. Harrington pretty icy but packed and good with microspikes. Soaked in some views at the summit which was surprisingly quiet given the amount of cars at the trailhead and made my way back down Mountainhouse. Jumped off at Jack Frost and took High Meadow down. One very icy little steep pitch down High Meadow that looked like people had opted to go around. Still not bad with spikes and being careful. Hit Echo Lake back to the lot. Maybe an hour and 45 trip total. |
