Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossings were a bit high on Race Brook Falls Trail in the morning- required hopping on partially submerged rocks. I had to wade through 3-6 inches of water at Sages Ravine. Nothing else of concern, and the Race Brook Falls crossings were fairly easy rock hops in the afternoon.

Comments: Race Brook Falls and Bash Bish Falls are quite scenic this time of year! Small patches of monorail, easily avoided, on Race Brook Falls Trail. Sages Ravine had longer stretches of monorail, and minor ice flows. Probably should have used microspikes here, but was too lazy to put them on (and then take them back off for the bare stretches). The northern slopes of Bear Mountain and Mt. Everett also had areas of monorail and slushy snow, but I was able to ascend these without traction. Descending without microspikes would have been a bad idea. The southern slopes were clear and generally dry. Bear Mountain Road and the flat beginning of the Mt. Frissell Trail had lengthy areas of standing water. South Taconic Trail was in great shape- surprisingly dry, and no remaining snow/ice.
