Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Small gravel lot on Lake Shore Road with enough space for at least two vehicles. Map shows that property could be accessed at other points, don't know about their parking.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One tiny little brook with stepping stones
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Beautiful bridge recently built by BTA/BOLT through a swampy area in the beginning. There are a few signs with single letters and numbers rather than names. Green arrows keep you on the "real trails" and not the little herd paths and paths going on to abutting private property.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dogs are required to be leashed, according to the sign at the beginning. Also, equestrians use this trail; watch for horses!

Comments
Comments: Beautiful area! We crossed a small field and descended briefly into a wet area (many spring plants, like skunk cabbage, are thriving here) where the fantastic bridge is. You can see Hovey Pond from here. Then you ascend and then descend and cross powerline. Lots of nice spring flowers here. Trail goes into an evergreen area and parallels the shore. Many good stops to rest and enjoy the pond. One area has a bench. Took a lot of side trails, herd paths, etc. Wide variety of wetlands, ledges, another pond. There were even artifacts at one point. Want to go back and see the trails we did not do. Thanks, Boxford!
