Comments
Comments: Haverhill trails book says this is a 30-45 minute easy walk. Easy, yes; but too pretty and too interesting to finish in under an hour. This is a loop with a few spur paths(most of which lead to nice spots by the water. Clockwise, you will first come to the shores of Chadwick Pond. Beautiful pond. But further on is a marshy cove, and that is where the action is. Within a 10 minute space we saw a pileated woodpecker, great blue heron, and many red wing blackbirds. Many gorgeous tall trees here, many pines that produce a soft foot bed. Not sure if this is legal, but the slightly elevated spot overlooking the pond has a fire pit. Now here's the only thing negative in this report; TRASH! Someone had a birthday celebration and left the candles, glitter, etc. Forgot to bring a bag or I would have taken it out.

This would be a nice children's hike. Short, easy, and a lot to see and hear (bird song). Hope to return here again.
