Comments
Comments: Day 2 of 2-day trip: Left Laurel Ridge Campsite around 8:00. Although it had cleared up overnight, it was cloudy and foggy again in the morning. Went out to the cliff by Bear Rock Stream, which would be an awesome place to camp with a great sunrise, but camping is not allowed there (there were two people camping there, however). Not a great view today because of the clouds, but the colors were nice down low. The approach to Mt Race is a great ridge walk, but there were no views to speak of due to the fog, and no views from the summits of Mt Race or Mt Everett either. The climb up Everett is steep, and it rained lightly off and on during the morning. The wet rocks and slippery leaves made it treacherous in places (I took one fall). The loop around Guilder Pond is nice, with a beautiful hemlock forest on one side. Even the road walk back to the State Forest lot was nice.
