Started at Race Brook Trail head on Rt. 41. Went up Race Brook Trail to the Appalachian Trail , Saqes Ravine, over Mt. Race , Lions Head and Bear Mtn
This was a backpacking trip. We all started out barebooting, when we got to Race Brook Campsite, I put on my chains. There were a few icy places up to here that you could do bareboot. When we got to Race Mountain, one person put on her spikes, I kept my chains on and two others were still in bareboots. By the time we got to Sages Ravine we all had spikes on, once you cross that stream you will need spikes, it was shear Ice. Climbing up Bear Mountain was the same you need to have spikes on for this. |
