Great trail for microspikes - 1-2 snow at base, maybe 3-4 inches up higher but well packed. So much easier than a month ago when it was all ice. The hubby wanted to avoid ice on upper Harrington although it didn't look too bad - so we used Link then Midstate on ascent, and roadwalked a piece on return to get directly to the upper Semelhena junction. Saw at least a dozen parties, most in spikes, 3/4 wearing masks. Barebooting is possible I suppose but exposed ice on some of the steeper sections suggest spikes are best (to me).
Minimal wind, great views, great day. So lovely to see an area in all seasons. |
