Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Greylock, MA
Trails
Trails: Old Adams Road, Cheshire Harbor Trail, Appalachian Trail, Gould Trail, Peck's Brook Loop
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Monday, August 8, 2011
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: No cars at West Mountain Road parking area on arrival. Just one other car when we left. Don't follow the Google directions to West Mountain Road if coming from South or East. Google would have you approach by a nonexistent part of West Mountain Road. Parking is actually at a dead end accessible only from the North.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Peck's Brook easily rockhopped.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Big duckunder on Cheshire Harbor Trail. Parts of Gould Trail could use some brushing. Peck's Brook Loop has been neglected--big duckunder and trail needs brushing (wild raspberries encroaching on trail--ouch). Some erosion on the sides of the ravine. Log steps have rotted and crumbled.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn't see any. Would appear to be an easy dog hike.
Bugs
Bugs: A few earbuzzers but they didn't seem too hungry.
