Comments
Comments: Beautiful bluebird day, with a little wind on top. Trails were primarily hard packed snow, with some smooth ice here and there, and some exposed rocks/roots once in awhile. Used my new IceTrax V5 Hex Ice Cleats, which worked fine on all the surfaces encountered, including coming down the steep section of Jack Frost, which had a lot of bare rock. But I did not ascend the steep section of Harrington, as it looked like a more aggressive traction may be may be needed there, given the ice flow at the start of the steeps. During six miles of hiking, including two trips to the summit to get in 1600 feet of elevation gain, I only saw one other hiker--I enjoyed having the trails to myself.
